Kava Platform Gets Fast Decentralized Cloud Hosting Solution With Akash Network

Akash Joins The Kava Ecosystem

The Akash Network joins with Kava with the long term goal being the first truly decentralized ecosystem in DeFi when all of its pieces are integrated into decentralized frontends.

The Kava Ecosystem’s decentralization will continue thanks to funding from Kava Ignition, the leading cloud provider.

As the preferred cloud hosting solution for the ecosystem, Akash will provide hosting for decentralized, censorship-resistant frontends of services running on the Kava Platform.

What Is Akash Network?

Akash Network, the world’s first decentralized and open-source cloud, accelerates deployment, scale, efficiency, and price performance for high-growth industries like blockchain and machine learning/AI. The “Airbnb for Cloud Compute,” Akash Network provides a fast, efficient, and low-cost application deployment solution. Leveraging 85% of underutilized cloud computing capacity in the 8.4 million data centers, Akash Network allows anyone to lease cloud computing resources.

Through Akash’s platform, developers can easily and securely access cloud compute at a cost currently 2–3 times lower than centralized cloud providers like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. The platform achieves these benefits by integrating advanced containerization technology with a unique staking model to accelerate adoption.

Why Decentralized Cloud?

Decentralization is fundamental to the value proposition of DeFi. This is why the Kava Platform provides a secure, highly scalable decentralized foundation on which Kava Ecosystem projects can build the backends of their protocols. However, providing a streamlined user experience has, up to now, required the hosting of frontend applications on centralized cloud hosting providers.

“The Kava Ecosystem is all about creating the most secure and scalable decentralized platform for DeFi. As our preferred cloud provider, Akash Network will empower developers to bring that decentralization all the way through to the frontend of their applications.” — Scott Stuart, CEO of Kava Labs

With the Akash Network, builders on the Kava Ecosystem can extend that decentralization to the frontends of their applications at a lower cost than centralized options. In doing so, projects can protect against regulatory changes impacting access to their services, keeping the power in the hands of their users.

What To Expect

The partnership between Kava Labs and Akash will initially focus on bolstering the decentralization of the current Kava Ecosystem. This will include a mirrored version of the Kava App frontend hosted on the Akash network and a decentralized ecosystem analytics dashboard.

“We’re proud to provide a decentralized solution for cloud compute to Kava Labs and its ecosystem. Hosting the decentralized version of the Kava App along with their analytics dashboard is one step closer to a truly decentralized Internet.” — Greg Osuri, CEO of Akash Network.

Akash will also be providing upcoming Kava Ecosystem projects with compute credits in the form of the Akash Token ($AKT), its utility token, to support the hosting of decentralized frontends. In the future, developers building on the Akash Network may also be given the opportunity to deploy their projects directly to the Kava Ecosystem.

Long-term, the partnership aims to provide decentralized frontend applications for every part of the Kava Ecosystem, making it DeFi’s first truly decentralized ecosystem.
